ASSE 2-1 ESTAC : thanks to Robert Beric!
The Slovenian striker, having stepped onto the field after half time, completely turned the match around. Behind since the onset of the match, the Verts went out to fight for another victory that allows them to climb to 6th place in the rankings.

He warmed up during the break without a pinny, as if he was already playing his match. Robert Beric did not take a long time to prove just that. Six minutes, to be precise, was enough for him to score two goals and turn around a match that was becoming complicated for the Verts. Niane (8) had opened the score with the only shot on net made by Troyes during the first half, after an error made by Neven Subotic. The Stéphanois were dominating and and not managing to even the score. So Jean-Louis Gasset had his Slovenian striker enter the game at the beginning of the second half. With Romain Hamouma, two-time decisive assistman, ASSE’s number 27 became the Verts’ saviour. With a strong head-butt, Beric evened the score (68). Six minutes later, he got another goal past Zelazny (74). Determined, the Slovenian even scored a third goal, which didn’t count as he was off-side (86), and almost scored a hat trick when he took possession of the ball following Jonathan Bamba’s free kick (89). In one half time, Robert Beric brought his team to 6th place in the rankings. In four months, the Verts have overtaken ten teams and are now in a good position to earn a spot in the Europa League. Who better than Robert Beric to personify this magnificent “remontada”?

THE ANALYSIS OF THE COACH

Having demonstrated his effective coaching notably by putting Robert Beric into the game during the break, Jean-Louis Gasset wanted to avoid all euphoria after the match. Even if his players are now in 6th place and more than ever before on the road to qualify for the Europa League, the tactician thinks above all of the effort that is required to confront a difficult end-of-season calendar.
