Eirik Horneland: ‘Do more!'
St Etienne's coach was at the pre-match press conference ahead of the 29th round of Ligue 1 McDonald's matches against Brest at the Chaudron this Sunday (3pm).
Injury update
Pierre Cornud is set to join Augustine Boakye on the list of injured players with a groin problem. There is some uncertainty surrounding Florian Tardieu, who suffered an eye and hip injury at Lens, and Pierre Ekwah, who cut short his session as a precaution. Léo Pétrot also felt some discomfort in his calf after the last match. He trained today after being rested on Thursday. His condition is being monitored.
Post-Lens
I'm not happy with our game at Lens, it was a step backwards. Physically, we were outplayed. We couldn't get out of Lens' grip. We're a team that's more comfortable in their opponents' half, with possession of the ball. We saw that in the first half against Paris... We need to have that possession and extend it over longer periods.
The ranking
Of course there's a sense of urgency. We want to stay in L1, we're in a bad position and we know we need to win games. All we can do is concentrate on the progress we need to make. Once again, we have to do much better than we did at Lens, because we weren't up to scratch (...) We have to fight against the current difficulties and believe in ourselves. In terms of fighting spirit, we need to show more (...) As a club: the players, my staff and myself, we need to do more. Playing and working for this club is a big responsibility. We have to live up to it.
Brest
Brest is a team that has done some great things in recent seasons. They've chosen a direction and stuck to it. The team is really aligned with its game plan, and I like the way they approach matches. They're a great source of inspiration for us all.
