Eirik Horneland: “We lost too many balls in dangerous areas”
After his men's heavy 4-1 defeat by Lille, which saw them reduced to 10 men for too long, the Les Verts coach analyzed the match in a press conference.

A good start to the match
It wasn't our idea to give Lille the ball, but they were very intense and put us under pressure. Despite everything, the penalty gave us hope, as did the actions that followed. Playing here in Lille is a big challenge. When you have the opportunity to take an early lead here, but you miss that 0-2 ball, you're always in a position to suffer against a team like this.
Too many individual errors
I agree, we lost too many balls in dangerous areas, as in the case of the red card. I think this championship and the big teams in this league demand a lot of intensity, energy and maturity. In the first half, we created enough to be present in this match. In the second half, with the red card, things were much more difficult. When the red card was shown, we had to make a change from one position to another, sacrificing Lucas Stassin. The idea was to keep up the pace with Augustine Boakye up front. We made a mistake at 2-1 a few minutes after Zuriko Davitashvili had given us a 1-2 lead.
An initial assessment after five matches
Ligue 1 demands a lot: concentration and determination. Staying up for a team that was promoted from third in L2 is a big challenge. Over the last five games, we've had some good moments and some less satisfactory ones. We need consistency.
