Gautier Larsonneur: "A new way of operating"
The keeper of the Green house, who will wear the captain's armband this Saturday against Reims (5 PM), spoke at a press conference to discuss this first fixture of 2025.
The Year 2025
I’d like to start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. What can you wish for me? Lots of good things, good health above all, and for ASSE to climb back up this little hill. It was quite a brief break, but it allowed us to reunite with our families. It was short, but it’s always good to see your loved ones again.
The Arrival of Eirik Horneland
With the coach’s arrival, it’s a new way of operating: different schedules, another language, but we’re adapting very well. The language isn’t a problem; most of the locker room speaks English. Everything is going smoothly. Eirik Horneland is very dynamic on the pitch and wants to drive the whole group forward. He emphasizes a lot of activity, especially running.
This Week’s Priority
We had 4–5 days to work, so we focused on the essentials to prepare for this match against Reims. We’ll get into the finer details in the coming weeks. The coach is guiding us toward very specific things he wants to instill: areas of focus for work, play, and pressing. It’s up to us to put that into practice on the field, with determination and pride.
The Role of the Players
I’ll adapt my role according to the coach’s vision. We’ve already discussed it. I know we have ambitions, and if I need to play higher to support the block, I’ll play higher. (…) Now it’s up to us to tip the scales in our favor, to address certain issues, and to earn points. We need discipline in both defense and attack. That’s the discipline the coach has been instilling in us since his arrival.
