Kévin Monnet-Paquet: "Everyone is alert"
The winger, who had several roles at the beginning of the season, reminds: with the pace speeding up, everyone will have their role to play on Jean-Louis Gasset’s team.
How did you experience the success against Caen?
I was naturally a bit frustrated since I didn’t play but I was very happy about the team’s reaction and the victory. It began bad after the first goal was scored but we didn’t panic. We finished strong. In the end, I think that we imposed ourselves logically.
Did you need this victory?
It was necessary after the beating we took in Paris. We picked ourselves up despite a difficult first half. This success gives us additional confidence, from the momentum. I hope that we’ve begun a great undefeated streak.
You speak of confidence, did you need a bit more after the defeat suffered at the hands of Paris in the Parc des Princes?
We have the chance to have a team with experienced players. We had confidence but we struggled physically to finish our matches. We were feeling it. Saturday, we finished strong and we reversed the situation. The replacements had a great start. There was a healthy rivalry among the players. We’re in better form physically and we feel it.
You have to be in a better shape this week with three matches in six days.
It’s a very busy week and the coach will need everyone. I’m always available for the coach, for the team, ready to give my all. We need competition. There’s talent and experience. We haven’t shown that enough. We all feel like Loïs (Diony) and Arnaud (Nordin) when they stepped onto the field, everyone is alert.
You played different roles this season. Is your versatility an additional source of strength as the calendar is picking up speed quickly?
In Paris or in Montpellier, I played on the side as part of a 5-player defensive line. The coach knows me, I can play everywhere. If he thinks that I can bring something to this position or to that position, I do it with pleasure. I play where my coaches tell me. I’m not fonder of playing as a winger but I think that I have the skills to play several positions. The team is my priority.
