Les Vertes powerless against the leaders
Les Vertes fought back to lose 5-0 to Olympique Lyonnais, who were comfortably top of the Arkema Première Ligue.

For the second time this season, Geoffroy-Guichard is the theatre of Les Vertes. After hosting Paris SG in December, undisputed leaders Olympique Lyonnais face the Stéphanoises, once again in the rain.
The visitors quickly took control of the ball and approached the Saint-Etienne goal. From a free-kick, Gilles headed in a shot that Marine Gignoux reflexively parried away. Le Sommer happily collected the ball and sent a heavy shot into the back of the net (ASSE 0-1 Lyon, 9th). The battle was then concentrated in midfield. From a long cross, Hegerberg took advantage of a defensive error to make it 2-0 (ASSE 0-2 Lyon, 35'). Dabritz then found her way between the lines and beat Marine Gignoux alone just before the break (ASSE 0-3 Lyon, 45th + 2).
After the break, Les Vertes got back into the game and were able to move the ball higher up the pitch. At the end of a superbly-constructed move, Sarah Cambot sent Alexandria Lamontagne through on goal, but she unfortunately lost her duel (50'). Stung, Lyon responded with a free-kick and Gilles headed the ball over (ASSE 0-4 Lyon, 51st). Marine Gignoux was again called upon to make two decisive saves, first with her hand and then with her foot in front of Svava (54'). Sarah Cambot was also very active in the Saint-Etienne attack, firing just over Lyon's goal from more than 25 metres (58'). Dumornay, who had come on a few seconds earlier, was at the end of a Lyon move. His shot, with the help of the post, rattled the net (ASSE 0-5 Lyon, 74th). Thrown deep by Adèle Connesson, Cindy Caputo got in front of Benkarth but was caught out in the last seconds by a defensive rebound (83rd). A few forays from St Etienne without any final shots ended the match.
Les Vertes next face second-placed OL in Paris on Saturday.
