Marc-Antoine Brihat: “Complicated, but within our reach”
In charge of the women's pro squad this week, the coach talks about the reception of Nantes, this Saturday (5pm) at the Stade Salif-Keita. After Les Vertes' narrow 0-1 win in the first leg, he expects the opposition to have their backs against the wall in a match between direct rivals for a place in the French top tier.
The working week
I took on the job quite naturally, because I'd already had the opportunity to run sessions with the group. The working week went well. I felt the girls were ready to perform on Saturday, and that's the most important thing.
Nantes, an amazing promotion team
Nantes are a very fine, playful team. They have an interesting game plan, with a lot of possession. Over the last few weeks, we've seen this plan evolve. They've shown they're capable of playing with three at the back rather than four, and exploiting transitions a little more. They're still a team that doesn't concede many goals, but doesn't score many either. I'm expecting a complicated match, but one within our reach.
The first-leg victory as a source of inspiration
It's obviously a match we've built on. I remember we were able to hold on to the result after Cindy Caputo scored early on. So I'm expecting Nantes to be out for revenge. They're a fine team capable of great performances, and it's an important match for both teams who are aiming to stay up.
Available squad
Fiona Bogi is suspended for this match because she has accumulated too many yellow cards in her last few matches. Apart from this absence, the whole squad is at my disposal.
