Sixth win in a row for Les Verts!

Serious and focused on their play-off ambitions, Les Verts pulled off a vital win in the U19 Nationals on Sunday (2-4).

Frédéric Dugand's Les Verts had to rise to the challenge, and they did just that at Olympique Rovenain. With the first and third-placed teams playing each other at the same time, ASSE needed to take advantage of the opportunity to consolidate second place. And they did just that, thanks in no small part to an excellent start to the game. Mamadou Konté opened the scoring in the 7th minute (Rovenain 0-1 ASSE, 7th)! Almost immediately afterwards, Yanis Mimoun doubled the lead (Rovenain 0-2 ASSE, 13th). Les Verts remained confident after the home side had pulled a goal back (Rovenain 1-2 ASSE, 17th) almost immediately afterwards.

That certainty allowed them to take the lead on the hour mark, again through Mamadou Konté (Rovenain 1-3 ASSE, 64th) and then, bis-repetita, through Yanis Mimoum (Rovenain 1-4 ASSE, 75th). The hosts pulled a goal back (Rovenain 2-4 ASSE, 86th), but the Stéphanois are still in the play-off hunt!

With Marseille's win at leaders Toulouse, Les Verts are still in second place, one point off the pace and one point clear of third. Pending MHSC's late game, three teams are battling for two play-off places. With two rounds remaining, ASSE host bottom-placed Ghisonaccia before a trip to Corsica to take on Ajaccio. Come on!

The coach's reaction

‘I'd like to congratulate the players on their performance, their spirit and their commitment. They realised what was at stake and that our fate was in our own hands. I saw a rigorous and committed team (...) Our opponents are no longer our problem, we need to concentrate on the three points and our play-off objective.’
