U19s win in style against Nice
On their return to competitive action, Les Verts scored their first win of 2025! In a match between podium contenders, Les Stéphanois got the better of OGC Nice, the team they drew with last September (0-0). Frédéric Dugand's boys put in a great deal of effort and maximum intensity, picking up numerous balls and forcing the visitors into errors. In fact, it was on a high recovery that ASSE managed to open the scoring. After some good pressing, Nadir El Jamali crossed in front of goal. Issam Cheikh was on hand to head home (ASSE 1-0 Nice, 27th).
In the second half, the Greens applied themselves diligently and managed to double their lead. After another successful push, Paul Eymard rounded off a good move (ASSE 2-0 Nice, 58th). The result was enough to secure a precious win, allowing ASSE to take back three points from leaders Marseille and leave Nice, their opponents for the day, at a reasonable distance.
Coach's reaction
It was a good match,” enthused Frédéric Dugand. We knew that Nice were a talented team, and our game plan was to go after them and create density to recover balls quickly. The players put in a real display of energy, breaking all our records for distance covered in a match this season. We did some good forward work and combined play. It was a real pleasure to play together! Congratulations to the players!”
